I've upgraded to a newer heating system – do I still need Ngenic Tune?

Yes, Ngenic Tune can still give your home smarter heating control and improved comfort after you upgrade your heating system. A modern heat pump or controller provides a good foundation. Tune can complement it with control based on how your particular house responds and the actual indoor temperature. The benefit depends on the features your new system already offers and what you want from your heating.

Keep track of comfort throughout your home

Tune adjusts heating using indoor and outdoor temperatures, solar radiation and the thermal behaviour of your house. This can help maintain a more even temperature as the weather and heating demand change.

Multiple wireless indoor sensors give you an overview of more areas, and you can choose which sensors contribute to heating control. Tune controls the heating system as a whole, rather than each room separately. Balancing rooms may still require adjustments to heating flows and thermostats.

Heating that fits your daily routine

Use the app to change your target temperature, schedule specific dates or create a recurring weekly schedule. Temperature history and control data help you follow how Tune adjusts the heating. With Ngenic Track, you can also view measured electricity consumption.

Make use of electricity prices

If your heating uses electricity and your electricity contract has hourly or quarter-hourly prices, electricity price control can adapt heating to those prices. When the following day's prices are published, normally in the afternoon, Tune uses them to plan ahead. You choose the level of adaptation; stronger price control may lead to larger temperature variations.

Electricity price control is included in Tune Standard and Premium, but not Basic. Track is not required for electricity price control.

Help reduce peak demand

Demand limiting allows Tune to reduce the heat pump's space heating when household consumption is predicted to exceed your chosen limit. It is included in Standard and Premium and requires real-time data from Ngenic Track or a compatible connected meter, such as Tibber Pulse.

If your grid contract has hourly demand charges, lower peaks may reduce your grid bill. The benefit depends on your tariff and consumption. Tune does not control other appliances or domestic hot water production, and it cannot guarantee that the limit will not be exceeded. Demand limiting works on an hourly basis and is not designed for quarter-hourly demand tariffs.

Check compatibility when upgrading

Check that your new heating system is compatible and contact support@ngenic.se with its manufacturer and model. We can help ensure that the correct heating system is configured for your Tune and assess how Tune should work alongside its built-in controls.

If you already have Tune, upgrading your heating system is a good opportunity to review your settings and get more from both the new system and your smart heating control. Comfort control, history and schedules are included in Basic; choose Standard or Premium to also use electricity price control and demand limiting.
