Cutting the chords to the outdoor sensor?
Thinking about cutting the cable to the outdoor sensor might seem drastic, but it's actually the method we recommend for a seamless integration with your heating system. With our solution, there's no need to deeply navigate your heating system's internals. Plus, if you ever decide to stop using Ngenic Tune, restoring everything to its original state is straightforward.
The cable to the outdoor sensor is typically white or gray, thin, and is located either on the back or top side of the heating system. This cable should lead into a wall or up into a ceiling, eventually connecting to the outdoor sensor, which is usually mounted on the northern exterior wall of the house.
For optimal results, cut the cable close to the heating system, preferably within a 3-meter radius. Remember, the controller should be kept indoors.
If you prefer not to cut the cable, you can follow these steps with our Y-cable:
- Turn off the heating system.
- Disconnect the cable leading to the outdoor sensor from the heating system's terminal block. There should be two connections – make a note of them!
- Remove the connector from the end of the Y-cable marked with a house symbol, and then connect it to the terminal block where the outdoor sensor was previously connected.
- Connect the outdoor sensor to the end of the Y-cable marked with a pine tree symbol.
- Finally, connect the 3.5 mm plug from the Y-cable to the controller.
All set! Now you can turn your heating system back on. If all connections are correctly made, you should be able to see the outdoor temperature on your heating system's display if you have one.
